Choosing The Right Tie Down
CAR TIE DOWN BY THE WHEEL
Around The Tire
The strap passes around the tire to form a loop. Ideal for trailers with outboard anchor points, or for any operator that hauls vehicles with a variety of tire sizes. Fits just about any size tire from compact cars to SUVs.
Over The Tire
Three-cleat over-the-tire straps are an excellent option for low clearance vehicles. Many of these systems work for commercial car haulers with “pooch deck”. Systems are also available for E-Track and other tie down points. Once properly in tightened, the tire locks in place to become like a part of the deck.
Through The Rim
Originally designed for exotic imports, this simple, yet very effective, system can tie down just about any vehicle. Excellent for vehicles with smooth wheels, the non-abrasive straps can be fed through the wheels and tensioned to any outboard anchor point. Ideal for use on flatbed wreckers or open car-hauling trailers.
CAR TIE DOWN BY THE AXLE
Popular method of transporting sports cars, race cars and older vehicles with single straight axles. Forms an attachment between the axle and your trailer deck, while still allowing the secured vehicle to ride on its own suspension.
CAR TIE DOWN BY THE FRAME
Strap tie downs with frame hooks easily attach a vehicle frame to your deck. The relationship of the frame hole to the anchor point on the trailer is critical. Be sure there is suitable clearance and that a proper angle (60 degrees or less) can be achieved.
